Pleading from across a burning bridge
Letting go of forever seems to take that long
Every word left unspoken is haunting me
All promises left broken are chains I bear
Starting over now seems like a fantasy
Every moment now seems like an eternity
Do I ever cross your mind in your new life?
Only time you don’t is when I’m asleep
No remedy for this in sight
There’s no hope for recovery
Forever was a dream we shared
Others doubted the validity
Regret is now my only bed partner
Grief, my lullaby that hardly lets me sleep
Every thought laced with your disappointment
Too late to fix what’s broken, only pieces left
My biggest downfall was letting you down
Every time I close my eyes, it’s you I see
