You Ran
When your insecurities reared their ugly heads
And reminded me of past experiences,
I didn’t give in to doubt,
I pressed on,
When others warned me about you,
Who’s intuition I had grown to rely on,
I ignored them and stood by your side,
I pressed on,
When I was presented with yet another chance
At putting my family back together again,
I said no thank you and stuck by you,
I pressed on,
When a side of you I had never seen,
Jumped through the lines and shook me to my very core,
I didn’t let it scare me away, I forgave you,
I pressed on…
YET…
When I was at my weakest point,
When I pushed you away as a cry for help,
And needed you to be the warrior for me
You had claimed to be,
You ran,
So fast and so fleeting,
And with you took all the titles that
I had fought in previous times so adamantly against
Yet had finally began to embrace,
And gave them so effortlessly to another,
And all the vows have crumbled,
And all the dances have stopped,
And as the darkness closes in,
It doesn’t consume me,
I simply wear as a cloak,
And in the end,
Talk is cheap
Words are just words
But actions scream and echo through my mind,
Yet I’m the crazy one for being upset
At the fact that when I needed you the most,
You ran,
And stripped me bare,
But the cold is only cold when your heart is warm,
And I’m not shivering…
