If our paths should cross again,
By chance or by fate’s design,
Would our hearts still flutter and ache,
As they did the very first time?
Would the memories flood back,
Of the love we once held dear,
Or would we pass each other by,
As mere strangers with no cheer?
Could we pick up where we left off,
And rekindle that fiery flame,
Or have we too much hurt and pain,
To play that old game?
But if our paths should cross again,
I’ll take a moment to pause and reflect,
And wonder what could have been,
If we had not veered off track.
For fate is a fickle mistress,
And love is a rare commodity,
But if our paths should cross again,
Perhaps it’s destiny’s way of setting us free.
