A Distant Memory

I’m just somebody that you used to love,
A distant memory from now on;
A page turned, a story told,
A love that’s faded, a romance gone.

I still think of you, every now and then,
And wonder if you do the same;
But the pain and the hurt have all but gone,
And I’m left with memories of your name.

The way you smiled, the way you laughed,
The way you held me close at night;
All these things are etched in my mind,
A bittersweet reminder of our once-shared light.

But now it’s over, time has moved on,
And I’m grateful for the lessons learned;
For in the end, it’s better to have loved and lost,
Than to have never loved at all, I’ve learned.
